On this edition of Spurgeon Saturday, I’m thrilled to share that on this past Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, I defended my PhD dissertation on Spurgeon’s spiritual interpretation of the Song of Songs.
Thanks, brother. So grateful for such a stellar committee—spirituality, biblical theology and exegesis, and church history all covered by these heavy hitters. I hope I can publish it!
Congratulations! Our pastor recently went through the same process and it’s grueling for sure. But so worth it!! Btw he is also a Spurgeon fan so much so that he named his son Haddon! My husband and I call him Spurge.
Congratulations, Dr. Medders!
Congrats! Sounds like a book in the making.
Once again, congratulations! Top-notch committee, too 🤓
Do you have any plans to rework your dissertation into a book? It sounds to me like it'd be a great one already 😎

Excellent! Well, there's no time like the present and no rest for the weary, so hop to 😉
Look forward to seeing it come into fruition at the proper time! Seems like a great addition to Reformation Heritage Books or even B&H.
Congratulations, Dr. Medders!
Thank you!
