Music is one of the most vital parts of our spirituality. Music is a great gift. 150 Psalms, hymns, spiritual songs—the pairing of melody and theology helps us worship the triune God of our salvation. Music strikes and stirs our souls. Christians are a singing people.

Today, I want to share a worship song that came out in 2014. And without hyperbole, it is one of my favorite songs. It is a brilliant hymn from my friend, Tim. The lyrics take you through the gospel's power and promises, helping you sing in wonder and praise. More churches should be singing this song! Deep gospel truth + sing-ability = Amen.

Listen below on Spotify and YouTube.

It is Finished by Tim Dillon

How perfect and complete the work
that Christ my Lord has done
A thousand pleas on my behalf,
ten thousand battles won.
He loosed the bonds of sin and shame,
and crushed the serpent's head,
defeated all the powers of hell
by rising from the dead!

Hallelujah!
He accomplished our salvation
It is finished!
He has taken all our sin and
He exchanged it for his righteousness

My Lord obeyed his Father's will
from first to final breath
For me, he lived a sinless life
and died a sinner's death.
His infant birth and sacrifice,
His glorious reign above
They give me hope and grant me faith
and show me how to love

Hallelujah!
He accomplished our salvation.
It is finished!
He has taken all our sin and
He exchanged it for his righteousness.

Within the halls of Heaven's court,
my Judge's voice is heard.
The Law inert was weak to save
but Christ the final word.
He speaks and fills my darkened soul
with pure and brilliant light,
"My child rest, the work is done,
all things I have made right."

Hallelujah!
He accomplished our salvation
It is finished!
He has taken all our sin and
He exchanged it for his righteousness
